Write an essay on which type of foreign travel you think is best for both the tourist and the local community.

People who travel have different preferences in how they would want to allocate their time. Some people prefer to spend their holidays by relaxing in holiday resorts whereas some people prefer to learn the destination’s customs and traditions. In my opinion, the type of travel that is best for both the tourist and local community is the type where the traveler is eager to know more about the destination.

When a tourist visits a destination and takes an initiative to learn about the country’s customs and traditions, they are able to broaden their perspectives and learn different cultures. Furthermore, they are also able to try different types of cuisines which allow them to experience different sensations and even learn more recipes. Taking this approach benefits the tourist greatly as they gain so much knowledge as compared to when they are just relaxing in a resort.

In addition, the local community benefits greatly when tourists are keen on learning different customs and traditions of their destination. This is because tourists will be more inclined to buy local products as souvenirs if they genuinely enjoy the local customs. Tourists who want to experience the local’s cuisines will also help the local community as they will dine in local restaurants.

In conclusion, although there are different types of tourists around the world, a tourist who takes the initiative to learn about their destination’s culture and customs will benefit the tourist and the local community most.
