This image illustrates a diagram that talks about the level of Arctic sea ice volume as well as the thickness of the ice across the years. The diagram shows how the thickness of the ice has decreased by approximately 1.3 meters, from 3 meters in the period from 1958 to 1976 to only around 1.7 meters in the period from 1993 to 1997. Arctic sea ice volume has also decreased by 40% over the period. This is probably due to climate change.
