The border itself between Mexico and the United States is fraught with a mix of urban and desert terrain and spans over 1,900 miles. Both the uninhabited areas of the border and urban areas are where the most drug trafficking and illegal crossings take place. Crime is prevalent in urban cities like El Paso, Texas and San Diego, California.

我们来总结分析一下这道题需要注意的地方：

☑ 这句话很多同学都犯的一个错误是会不自觉的在Mexico之前加个the, 造成扣分。
☑ 第二是terrain这个词，大部分同学的重音都是错误的。正确的是：/təˈreɪn/ 重音在第二个音节上。
☑ 第三是最后的spans over 1,900 miles是与fraught with…并列的，而不是与之前的desert terrain并列的，不少同学句子成分判断错误造成断句错误，在spans之后出现错误的停顿。
☑ 第四是1,900的读法，正确的读法是one thousand and nine hundred，部分同学读成了hundreds，请注意数字里的thousand和hundred不是复数形式！！

☑ prevalent /ˈprɛvələnt/ 这个单词不少同学读错，需要注意重音以及其中e和a发音的区别。
☑ San Diego /di’eɪɡo/ 很多同学没有把/ei/的音发出来，或者发得含混不清，也会导致扣分。
☑ 最后一点是针对整个题目来说的，不少同学在遇到自己不熟的词或读错之后还是会出现unneccessary pause，这会导致流利度分数直线下降。
